How to trade volatility at the open of the US markets trading index futures on NinjaTrader

At the start of the US trading session as the cash markets open alongside Globex, there is one thing we are always guaranteed to see, and that’s volatility. It is the point at which many algos open as few operate on the electronic market only, so one of the many reasons we see a dramatic increase in volatility and this often lasts for the first twenty to thirty minutes. It’s difficult to trade such price action using the slower timeframes, but if you are prepared to move to the much faster charts of sub 1 minute then these moves deliver fast price action for scalping traders. But this type of fast action trading is not for everyone, and if this is the case simply wait for the markets to settle into their more even paced price action, or alternatively consider trading Globex only as this is more measured with reduced volatility.
